Michael Phelps has won eight gold medals so far. This lucky number 8 may bode well for the future of Sino-American relations if the leaders seize the opportunities to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation. It's a great feat against the odds for Michael whose former school teacher once said he would never be successful. Never say never! Congratulations Michael and America!

According to this article, bronze is as good as gold as long as it feels good to be at the top of the medal table

The Medal Rankings: Which Country Leads the Olympics?
http://olympics.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/08/20/the-medal-rankings-which-country-leads-the-olympics/

looking at the exchanges, it makes for a great joke...

I love how the liberal anti-American media twists the medal count around so as to prevent the USA from coming out on top. LOL.

...now who's actually "twisting" the medal count?

Quote:

Since Olympic‘s modern revival at 1896, the medal table ranks according to gold count. The weighted scheme makes no sense and American’s abitrarily corruption on this issue is but a international joke.
