China bashing continues as reporters hype on issues from the "fake" girl singer to police maintaining law and order during the Olympics.

A reader's letter to the local newspaper sums it up nicely :

Quote:
The most viewed articles this week on the Herald's website have all been about what went wrong with the opening ceremony. Perhaps we Sydneysiders have a subconscious jealousy about other cities hosting the Olympics, and a secret desire to deny them the title of "best Olympic Games ever".

We had our go eight years ago: it was amazing, unique and, more importantly, it was Australian. The reason it achieved such accolades was that we focused on the positives and got behind every Olympian. We should move on from enjoying beating up these Games to enjoying our athletes beating their opponents.

Envious of the achievements and difficult to match awesome Beijing Olympics, critics jump on the secrets of success. I bet no one would accept the challenge to re-enact the display of the same scale and grandeur. They are just envious and sour graping, trying to squeeze blood from stone to make a story. The mainstream western media are whipping a frenzy.

In art, there are no hard and fast rules. Zhang Yimou has directed movies and certainly knew what he was doing and how to get the job done to impress the audience. This absolutely acceptable and encouraged in Hollywood. What's show biz about anyway?
