Democracy is getting crazy in USA.....

Why?

Republicans are getting to the point where it has to resort to "terrorist" techniques to storm town hall meetings of Democrats who are trying to explain health care policies and plan that are currently on the table to be legislated later this fall. About 45 million Americans have no medical insurance and increasing costs of insurance have sucked the life out of most business corporations including GM, Ford and Chrysler. Many middle class Americans who happen to have chronic diseases cannot afford the high costs of long term care are resorting to bankruptcies in order to receive medicaid, a government provided service for the very poor, old and downtrodden. The Obama administration is attempting to provide a government insured and affordable policy so that the current uninsured or anyone with common sense can buy into. This policy can be transferred around even when the holders change jobs or lose their employment. This policy is not meant to replace any available current affordable policies that powerful medical and insurance corporations are selling. Obama's policy is just one of the many that would be available to the general public.

Free speech in America has become synonymous with a circus activity especially during the current atmosphere when the Republicans lack leadership in both human and policy areas. So the party sets the monkeys loose....

Heather Blish, a Republican caught lying...

Quote:
Woman Who Said She Was ‘Just A Mom’ At Town Hall Meeting Is Exposed As A Republican Operative

Rep. Steve Kagen (D-WI) faced a “heated” discussion about health care at a town hall meeting yesterday, with people in the crowd who were heckling, interrupting, and filibustering him.

One vocal attendee was a woman named Heather Blish, who identified herself as “just a mom from a few blocks away” and “not affiliated with any political party.” When interviewed by the local NBC affiliate, Blish insisted she was not a member of the Republican Party. “I left the party,” she said. Blish’s statements, however, are distortions. From NBC’s report:

Her LinkedIn page ( http://www.linkedin.com/in/heatherblish ) shows something different. She was the vice chair of the Republican Party of Kewaunee County until last year. She worked on the John Gard campaign, who ran unsuccessfully against Kagen last year. And it says she’s a part of the Republican Party for Kagen’s district, as well as the Republican Party of Wisconsin, and the Republican National Committee.

Huffington Post’s Sam Stein notes, “Blish’s deliberate misleading of the local NBC reporter feeds into the suspicion that she — like other protesters at these events — are there because of political reasons not policy disagreements.”

Indeed, Republicans have been heavily promoting these protests. Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX) has said that the time for polite town halls is “over,” and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) has said that Democrats will have a “very, very hot summer.” State Republican Parties have also joined in.

A good place to follow any political issues in USA is to tune in to Keith Olbermann of MSNBC TV network. Health Care issues with Keith Olbermann

The USA is running budget deficit and heavily indebted, but can't get its house in order to provide the Americans with the basic essential services such as healthcare. These are lowly politicians who oppose sensible policies by underhanded methods. If politicians can't even get the fundamentals correct and serve their constituencies well, they do not deserve to be elected. Freedom is only privilege of the rich and powerful, not for the middle class and poor Americans who get compromised and trampled most of the time.

I believe USA is going to the dogs. Politicians especially of the right wing types are turning this country upside down. They lack leadership and have only the wimpy, 3rd rate Fox news and Rush Limbaugh type radio hosts and a low brow Sarah Palin to guide them. A few Presidents have come and gone, having served their terms (thank goodness for term limits...why don't they insist that for Senators and the House Representatives). The charade you see this summer with regard to the Health Care Bill debate is partly due to big time lobbyists (ex-senators, -representatives, -governors, -presidents?) who would campaign against this bill and paid handsomely by big corporations who push drugs, insurance and hospital care. A lot of US politicians upon leaving their posts have become fairly well off because of their lobbying activities. US media and sitting politicians will decry such practices of other countries around the world but not in USA. Obama would like to change the atmosphere in Washington, but it appears he has a hard time. The Health Care bill will be a test of his presidency.

Ex-Presidents become fairly rich by writing their memoirs or attending to the lecture circuits. So do some influential cabinet members and Senators.

Check out what earlier US Presidents said about their positions and the use of public funds.

Quote:
Harry Truman was a different kind of President. He probably made as many important decisions regarding our nation's history as any of the other 42 Presidents. However, a measure of his greatness may rest on what he did after he left the White House.

The only asset he had when he died was the house he lived in, which was in Independence Missouri. His wife had inherited the house from her mother and other than their years in the White House, they lived their entire lives there.

When he retired from office in 1952, his income was a U.S. Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year. Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an 'allowance' and, later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year.

After President Eisenhower was inaugurated, Harry and Bess drove home to Missouri by themselves. There were no Secret Service persons following them.

When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating, "You don't want me. You want the office of the President, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it's not for sale."

Even later, on May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing, "I don't consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for any award, Congressional or otherwise."

As president he paid for all of his own travel expenses and food.

Modern politicians have found a new level of success in cashing in on the Presidency, resulting in untold wealth. Today, many in Congress also have found a way to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices. Political offices are now for sale.

Good old Harry Truman was correct when he observed, “My choices in life were either to be a piano player in a whore house or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference.”
